Gretchen Rubin, author of The Happiness Project, encourages us to consider the following advice: “Accept yourself and expect more from yourself.”
This week’s writing prompt is to consider just that. Where, in your life, can you try to be more accepting of yourself? More gentle. More loving.
Where, in your life, can you expect more? Give just a bit more effort. Stop doing something that drains you.
As always, you can use this prompt to examine your own life, or use it to get to know more about a character you’re developing.
Happy writing!
My take:
Accept that...
This is both a difficult and beautiful season.
I am human, and humans sometimes feel anger and envy.
It is winter, here.
I am changing, even when all seems stagnant.
There is not enough time for everything.
Expect that...
I will turn again and again to hope. To God.
I will embrace change.
Spring will come.
I won’t wallow in dark emotions. I will try to be as loving as possible.
I will make time for what matters.
